Lenten Study Invitation
Dear Friends of the Saturday Morning ‘Let's Pray’ Prayer Group, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a good start to the New Year.
I am writing to inform you that the Ministerial Staff met yesterday and decided to follow the Lenten study book Cover to Cover: Who is the Christ? by Anne Calver. We felt this would be a meaningful resource for our spiritual growth and knowledge during the Lenten season. We are also planning to offer the study in person on Thursday mornings and also at lunchtime.
Additionally, we believe it would be beneficial to run the study during our Saturday Morning Prayer time throughout Lent, as this would support our Lenten Spiritual journey together. The proposed dates for the Saturday sessions are: 21st & 28th February, and 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th March, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Each session will include study, reflection, and prayer. About the Book: Who is the Christ? explores six different aspects of Jesus’ character, helping us see from a fresh perspective who He truly is and the eternal impact He left on the world.
The sessions focus on Jesus as:
- The Builder
- The Humble King
- The Holy King
- The Harvester
- The Risen King
- The Commissioner
In her conversational and thought-provoking style, Anne Calver invites us to reacquaint ourselves with Jesus and be reminded of our call to follow Him. The book is ideal for both group and individual use and includes icebreakers, prayers, Bible readings, discussion starters, and reflection points. You can order the book on Amazon (new: £8.99, used: £3.49).
We would appreciate your support in holding these sessions on Saturday mornings online, as we typically have around 20 people joining us for prayer at this time. Please let me know your thoughts as soon as possible so we can finalize arrangements and identify leaders for the study and prayer sessions during Lent.
Blessings, David Jebb, Superintent Methodist Minister
